Wild, Wild, Michigan

I was reminded recently that I live in an environment where it would not be out of the question to come across an animal that might be a little scary to me!

On our way home from dinner the other night, a porcupine run out in front of us.  It was just starting to get dark.  We got a good look at him; he had LOTS of nasty looking quills!  He was just down the hill from our house... so I won't be venturing too far from the lights when taking Roo out at night!

And yes, I know... there are probably porcupine in Ohio, but in 38 years of living in Ohio I never saw one.  I've seen tons of porcupine here in Michigan... granted most of them are dead on the side of the road!  And you sure don't want to hit one, as their quills can flatten a tire!

Yikes!!
