Henna Tatoo

I recently had the opportunity at work (during a college day festival) to get a henna tattoo.  It was free, so I figured what the heck!  How many of you can get a henna tattoo at work?!  lol

Henna tattoos are non-permanent dying or staining on the top layer of skin using a henna paste product, the process is called Mehndi.  The tattoos are generally an intricate design and brown in color. They will fade in about 2-4 weeks, depending on the type of henna that has been used .
Henna has been used since antiquity to dye skin, hair, and fingernails, as well as fabrics including silk, wool, and leather.  Historically, henna was used for cosmetic purposes in the Roman Empire, Ancient Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula, the Near East and South Asia.

Henna was regarded as having "Barakah," blessings, and was applied for luck as well as joy and beauty.

Mine is starting to fade now, but it was kinda fun to have.  It was interesting to hear the comments my having one elicited! (and for those wondering... Hubby liked it!)

Henna paste with gold glitter still on my skin
(you leave it on for 6-12 hours)

Tattoo after henna paste was peeled off...
light in color, but it will darken with time

Tattoo after 24 hours...
it continued to darken over the next 24 hours
